Sometimes it manifests as a higher pitch, sometimes as a very effeminate kind of "accent", and sometimes it can be more lispy than a normal voice. Probably not even a majority of gay men speak like this.That being said, there can sometimes be a very distinct cadence to a gay mans voice that I'm curious as to it's origins. Secondly, I know that not all gay men speak like this. First, I mean no disrespect with this question and I know that sexuality is a spectrum and when it comes to homosexuality people can range from extremely effeminate to super masculine and everything inbetween. I've seen this question posted on ELI5 before (1 year ago and 3 years ago) but I didn't see any serious explanations in the other threads, only jokes and opinions.
